The most typical dishes of Cyprus

Tomato sauce, Cacık (Tzaziki), Loukmades, Skordalia, Stifado, Greek Salad, Moussaka, Aubergine Salad, Kleftiko, Brandy sour, Pourgouri Pilaf, Afelia, Tahini dip

  • "Sish Kebab" - marinated lamb, skewered and grilled over charcoal.
  • "Barbecued Halloumi Cheese" - baked Halloumi cheese, then grilled on both sides until golden brown. It may be served with sprigs of coriander or parsley, together with toasted pita bread.
  • "Lunza" - pieces of pork marinated in wine and cooked on the grill.
  • "Macaroni Pastitsio" - baked macaroni together with halloumi cheese, cinnamon, béchamel sauce and nutmeg.
  • "Moussaka" - minced meat, potatoes, cheese, vegetables and herbs, baked in layers with cheese topping.
  • "Tavas" - meat with onions, vegetables and spices, cooked in a clay pot.
  • "Kleftiko" or "fırın kebab" - lamb baked in a clay oven.
  • "Dolmades", "dolmalar" or "yalancı dolma"- rice cooked with onions, tomatoes and herbs, then wrapped in vine leaves.
